Van-Thanh Nguyen PhD Engineering Scholarship for Vietnamese in New Zealand, 2014

University of Auckland is offering PhD engineering scholarship for Vietnamese students. The Scholarship will have an annual value of up to $7,500 for up to four years; up to $5,000 will be paid as a tuition fees credit and up to $2,500 as a stipend. The Scholarship’s continuation for a second and subsequent year will be subject to the Scholarship recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress. The basis of selection will be academic achievement, financial need and suitability of the proposed study in New Zealand. The application deadline is 1 May 2014.

Eligibility: This Scholarship will be available to candidates who are: Citizens of Vietnam; and Eligible to enrol in a PhD degree in the Faculty of Engineering. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.

Scholarship Description: The Van-Thanh Nguyen PhD Engineering Scholarship was established in 2009 by Van-Thanh Nguyen, a former Colombo Plan student at the Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist citizens of Vietnam, who are living in Vietnam at the time of application, to study postgraduate Engineering at The University of Auckland.

Number of award(s): One PhD Engineering scholarship is offered.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is offered for up to four years. The Scholarship’s continuation for a second and subsequent year will be subject to the Scholarship recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

What does it cover? The Scholarship will have an annual value of up to $7,500 for up to four years; up to $5,000 will be paid as a tuition fees credit and up to $2,500 as a stipend. The student will be required to pay all other fees, costs etc inherent in pursuing study at the University of Auckland as an international student.

Selection Criteria: The basis of selection will be academic achievement, financial need and suitability of the proposed study in New Zealand.

Notification: Applicants will be notified approximately six weeks after the closing date by letter or email.
