IRO Doctoral Scholarship Programme for Developing Countries in Belgium, 2014

Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) annually offers IRO Doctoral Scholarship for students from Developing Countries in Belgium. The IRO Doctoral Scholarships are only granted for doctoral programmes for a maximum period of 48 months and eventually for one pre-doctoral year as preparation period for the doctoral programme. Applicants may choose a research topic proposed by one of the KU Leuven Doctoral Schools: Humanities and Social Sciences Science, Engineering and Technology Biomedical Sciences or applicants may propose their own research topic. The application deadline is 15th January 2014

United Nations University JFUNU Scholarship for Developing Countries in Japan, 2014

The Japan Foundation is offering scholarships for master students in the field of Sustainability at United Nations University Institute. The scholarship is open for outstanding applicants from developing countries who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance. The JFUNU scholarship covers the full tuition fees and provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY for living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. Applicants who want to pursue a second master’s degree at UNU-ISP are not eligible for the scholarship. 28th February 2014 is the application deadline.

Proton OnSite is offering scholarship for high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement, excellence and community service. Each scholarship is one to four years in length and to be eligible for renewal, students must remain enrolled full-time and meet all criteria of standard academic progress as established by their university. The student must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while in college. Proton OnSite will award college scholarships of up to $100,000 total / $25,000 per year. February 14, 2014 is the application deadline.

Open Society offers Disability Scholarship to disability rights advocates and lawyers for LLM study. Citizens of China, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Peru and Colombia can apply for this disability scholarship. The program does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation or disability. The competition is merit-based. Grantees are required to participate in a four-week intensive pre-program in Istanbul, Turkey before starting study at host universities in the fall. The application deadline is January 13, 2014

Applicants should hold a first or upper second class honours degree in computing, physical sciences or engineering. University of Manchester is offering up to 5 PhD studentships for international students within the SCI/School of Social Sciences. Applicants must have minimum merit (or overseas equivalent), including a minimum 60% course work average (with no mark below 50%) and a dissertation mark minimum of 60% in a relevant social science discipline, to be eligible for these studentships. PhD Studentships are awarded for three years which include home/EU tuition fees, annual maintenance stipend up to £13,863 and £1000 for research and conference expenses.
