DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA CONFERMENT FOR DISTINGUISHED VISITING PROFESSORS OF TNU

Thai Nguyen University (TNU) has conferred the doctor honoris causa upon 04 foreign visiting professors in recognition of their significant contributions to the university on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Thai Nguyen University. They are Prof. Christopher A. Reichl from University of Hawaii at Hilo (the US), Assoc. Prof. Olivia P. Magpily from Laguna Polytechnic University (the Phillippines), Prof. Yuan-Kuang Guu from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), and Dr. Alexander Coward from University of California at Davis (the US).

In the recent years, TNU has strengthened international cooperation in education and training, for contributing to build up high quality staff serving for international integration and socio-economic development. In that progress, the distinguished visiting professors have helped TNU to promote the bilateral cooperation between Thai Nguyen University and universities and institutions throughout the world.  Some of their remarkable contributions include consultancy to international cooperation of the university, bridges to the university’s international network, development of joint-training programs, English language training for teaching staff, and development of training curricula.  

            The two first honoris degree were conferred to Assoc. Prof. Olivia Magpily and Prof. Yuan Kuang Guu on the 20th birthday of TNU – April 4, 2014. The next two were presented respectively to Prof. Christopher Reichl on May 27 and Dr. Alexander Cowards on June 5, 2014.

            The honoris causa were worthy tribute for the dedication and outstanding contribution of the professors, and a vivid expression of TNU’s appreciation and acknowledgement to the foreign expert’s valuable assistance to various academic programs of the university.
