Up to 2014, Thai Nguyen University enrolls students throughout Vietnam with total enrollment quotas of 11,185 students for bachelor degree and 1,645 students for college level.

Out of the total branches in 2014, there are new 07 bachelor branches in comparison with 2013, namely: Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Manufacture Engineering (TNU University of Technology); Chemistry- Pharmacy (TNU University of Sciences; Information Safety, Tele-communication Technology, Graphic Design, and E-commerce (TNU - UICT). 

Additionally, in 2014, TNU still  organize university entrance exam in accordance with 3 general principles (common test, common exam day, and common exam results), except for following bachelor branches, namely Plant Sciences, Agri- Extension, Aquaculture, Forestry,  Food Processing, Library Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Maths, Computer Sciences, Computer Technical Technology, Telecommuncation Technology; and 17 branches of college degree.
