On October 16, a delegation from the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam, led by His Excellency Shawn Steil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam, visited and held discussions at Thai Nguyen University (TNU).

The reception team, headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung, President of TNU, warmly welcomed the Canadian delegation. Dr. Hung proudly shared that TNU currently hosts nearly 80,000 students, with a significant 33% belonging to ethnic minority groups.

Annually, TNU contributes a substantial number of young, dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic human resources, meeting both domestic and international manpower needs. Dr. Hung expressed TNU's eagerness to intensify educational cooperation with foreign partners, particularly aiming to tap into the potential educational landscape of Canada.

In a congenial atmosphere, TNU's leadership and Ambassador Steil exchanged views on mutual interests and proposed areas for collaboration. This included Canadian scholarship programs for TNU's staff, faculty, and students, and enhancing faculty and student exchanges between TNU and Canadian universities.

Ambassador Steil agreed with the proposals made by TNU's leadership, affirming his commitment to give greater attention to these matters. He expressed a hopeful outlook for the future strengthening of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam, particularly TNU, and Canada.
