Meeting with representatives of RMIT University on September 11th, 2024

On the morning of September 11th, 2024, Thai Nguyen University hosted a meeting with the representatives of RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. On Thai Nguyen university side, there was Associate Professor Tran Thanh Van, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University and Doctor Mai Anh Khoa, the Head of Department of Sciences, Technology and Foreign Affairs. On RMIT University side, Professor Denise Cuthbert, ADVC Research Training and Development-Research & Innovation Portfolio (Team leader) and Mr. Joseph Tuyen Dao, Regional and Sponsorship Development Manager-International and Engagement Portfolio attended. With a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, Associate Professor of Literature, Deputy Director General of Continuing Education Department Vu Tu Anh also attended at the meeting, along with lecturers from university members.

The meeting consisted of two main sessions. In the first session, Associate Professor Tran Thanh Van briefly introduced about the structural organization, the number of teaching staffs and students of our university. Doctor Mai Anh Khoa highlighted the importance of collaboration between Thai Nguyen University and other international organizations that sponsor scholarships for doctorate, master training programmes, and exchange programmes. In his speech at the meeting, he wished a further cooperation between RMIT University and TNU for the sake of postgraduate students. In the second session, Mr. Joseph Tuyen Dao gave a presentation about RMIT University and remarkable benefits of choosing to study at RMIT Melbourne, especially for PhD candidates who are holding a 89-Vietnamese government scholarship. In this session, Professor Denise Cuthbert gave a helpful presentation to support PhD candidates to write a perfect research proposal.

Although the meeting took place in severe weather, the audience could not come as many as we expected, the meeting was helpful and was a bridge to open an MOU in the future.
